Auto-capture

Auto-capture streamlines image capture by automatically taking the photo once the document is in frame, in focus, and well lit. The user holds the device steady, and Mosaic captures the image when it is ready.

Enabling Auto-capture enhances the end-user experience:

  • Clearer images: Capture waits for suitable lighting, framing, and focus, which helps avoid blurry, dark, or poorly framed photos.
  • Fewer capture mistakes: Mosaic takes the photo when the document is ready, which helps avoid a shot taken while the document is still moving or out of frame.
  • Smoother experience: Your application waits until the document is steady and fully in frame before taking the image, which helps reduce the user friction.

How it works

On-screen guidance prompts the user to adjust position, lighting, and framing. When Mosaic detects that the document is in frame and the image is clear enough to submit, it captures the image.

Manual capture fallback

You can enable auto-capture and also configure a fallback to manual capture. With the fallback, the user can take the photo manually if auto-capture doesn't complete. If that photo isn't accepted, they can try again.
